One of two unique side tables designed for the drawing-room
at Dunglass Castle, Bowling/Scotland, home of Charles MacDonald,
brother of MacNair’s wife Frances MacDonald.

Herbert MacNair and his colleague and close friend Charles
Rennie Mackintosh, both architects, married the sisters Frances
and Margaret MacDonald, both students at the Glasgow School
of Arts. This group, known as „The Four“, formed a creative alliance
and made an important contribution to the development and
recognition of a distinctive „Glasgow Style“.
